Riverside Little League welcomes you to the 2009 season! We are pleased you have chosen us to teach your children the games of softball and baseball within an atmosphere of healthy competition and good sportsmanship for a positive, character-building experience. One of our goals is to partner with parents to teach life lessons through sports. Good sportsmanship comes in part from the full cooperation and support our players and fans give our umpires. Dozens of dedicated volunteers work year round to bring the Little League experience to Riverside. We hope you’ll join them and become a Riverside Little League volunteer!
Please complete the Little League Player Application found on our website at www.RiversideLL.com to register for the coming season. You can submit your registration by (i) mailing it to P.O. Box 3, Riverside, IL 60546; (ii) dropping it at Riverside Bank, 17 East Burlington Street; or (iii) coming to our open house! Registration deadline is February 2, 2009.
Last season, over 500 children between the ages of 5 and 15 participated in America’s favorite pastime here in Riverside. In 2009, Riverside Little League will once again hold a preseason training and safety clinic for our coaches and we have plans in the work to offer player clinics in early Spring. On June 1, 2009 be one of more than 300 Riverside baseball fans to participate in another family outing to watch the White Sox play against the Oakland Athletics. Although no official parade is planned this year for the 4th of July, we hope to work with other community groups to continue this tradition. Plan to attend our annual star spangled All-Star baseball and softball games at Indian Gardens at 1 and 3 p.m. Enjoy the lively competition and treat yourself to grilled hot dogs and other concessions. Fans had much to cheer about during the post season baseball and softball tournaments. Congratulations to our Softball Juniors 13-14 girls team for their win of 3rd in State and the Softball Minors 9-10 girls team for their District Championship!
Riverside Little League is holding an Open House Sunday, February 1, 2009 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Riverside Village Hall. Join us to register in person, meet our Board of Directors, get answers to your questions about the Little League program, and introduce yourself to us if you would like to coach. You may also order your player a personal baseball or softball helmet. If you have a baseball glove or bat that your player has grown out of bring it with you to donate for younger players to use and perhaps you will find one just your size in exchange.
Our managers, coaches and others generously volunteer their time and effort, but not all of the needs of Riverside Little League can be met with volunteering alone. Riverside Little League relies on monetary contributions to cover costs such as field maintenance, equipment, insurance, training and development, uniforms and umpires. We donate funds to the Village of Riverside to improve and maintain Riverside baseball fields - this expense costs thousands of dollars.
We ask that you consider sponsoring a team using the form included in this brochure or lend your support to our baseball and softball programs by making a tax deductible donation. To support Riverside Little League’s baseball and softball programs, please send your donation to: Riverside Little League, P.O. Box 3, Riverside, IL 60546.
Thank you for your generous support of Riverside Little League. We look forward to the opportunity to play ball this season and hope to see you there.
