Riverside Little League Announces Major Renovations at Indian Gardens
and Big Ball Park

Riverside, IL — October 2025 — Riverside Little League (RLL) is proud to announce a transformative
renovation of the historic Indian Gardens’ River and Road baseball fields, along with a separate project
to improve Big Ball Park, the home of RLL’s softball program.

On October 16, the Village of Riverside Board of Trustees approved an agreement with Midwest Field
Solutions to lead the work. The total project cost is $78,250, with Riverside Little League covering
$67,250 and the Village contributing $11,000.

Indian Gardens Baseball Fields
The centerpiece of Riverside baseball for generations, the Indian Gardens River and Road fields will
undergo a full-scale renovation to improve safety, playability, and aesthetics.

Highlights include:
- Full regrades and fresh Kentucky Bluegrass sod installation (over 9,000 sq. ft.)
- Over 50 tons of professional Quickpitch infield mix and Heritage Red Conditioner
- Rebuilt mounds and home plates with new bases, rubbers, and precise alignment
- Removal of dangerous infield-outfield lips and perimeter leveling
- New warning track mix along fence lines for enhanced safety

Big Ball Park Softball Field
Riverside Little League is also investing in its softball community with targeted upgrades at Big Ball
Park, including:

- Clay skin repairs (scarifying, regrading, and finish grading)
- Perimeter lip removal and re-sodding with Kentucky Bluegrass
- Establishment of correct field arcs for improved safety and performance

“Indian Gardens and Big Ball are more than fields, they’re community landmarks,” said David
Halvorsen, Riverside Little League Board President. “This renovation represents an investment in our
kids, our community, and the future of the game. We’re proud to provide a facility that reflects the
passion and dedication of our players, coaches, and families.”

Work will begin soon, and Riverside Little League will share progress updates with the community as
the renovations move forward.
