Opening Day 2026 Letter from Our RLL President

Good Afternoon everyone,

On behalf of the Riverside Little League Board, I’d like to welcome all of our players, families,
coaches, and volunteers to our 73 rd Opening Day this Saturday. It’s truly one of the most exciting
days of the year, and it will be great to see our community back out at the ballpark.

Baseball has a special way of bringing people together, and as Babe Ruth once said, “Never let
the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.” This season is about stepping up, trying
new things, and most importantly—having fun.

We also want to emphasize what makes this game so special: sportsmanship and respect. How
we treat our teammates, opponents, coaches, and umpires matters just as much as the score. As
Cal Ripken Jr. said, “Every day is a new opportunity.” That includes opportunities to encourage
one another, to grow, and to do the right thing both on and off the field.

To our coaches and volunteers, thank you for your time and dedication—not just for teaching the
game, but for mentoring our youth and helping shape their character. The lessons learned here go
far beyond baseball and will stay with these players for years to come.

And to our families, thank you for your continued support and encouragement—it truly makes a
difference.

Finally, let’s remember what Yogi Berra famously said: “It ain’t over till it’s over.” So play hard,
support each other, show great sportsmanship, and enjoy every moment of this season.
With that, I’m proud to officially declare the season open.
